Waste Management to Increase Productivity - Lesson 2

Lesson 2
2.1 Essential Question:
            
What is the value of education if you throw waste to be picked by someone else?
How do you think to contribute yourself for improving urban waste management?

2.2 Grouping Strategy:
           
The entire class will be divided into 8 groups of mixed gender, ability and skills. This aims to low down the disparity between the late bloomers and the gifted children. This also aims to `motivate and promote team spirit among the students. This also focuses on to develop the attitude of share and care among the teammates.One of the other goal is to develop a sense of love towards environment thereby focuses onto make chidren  emerge as responsible citizens.

2.3 Learning Environment:
            
Besides working in the class the children will be taken outside the class to an open area so as to ensure active participation & interaction among the team mates .A wall in an open area will be set aside so as to display the work of the students. The students will use school library and computer facility  so as to gather more information relevant to the work.

2.4Assessment Approach:
                2.41 Authentic Assessment:
Authentic tasks such as :
Planting
Documenting the difference between Reuse & Recycle
Seminar on waste management     
           
2.42 Formative Assessment:
           
Regular feedback will be provided based on the literature reviews, surveys conducted, practical approach, critical thinking and scientific attitude, presentation of work etc followed by the students during the work.

2.43 Summative Assessment:
Assesessment will be based on team work,final presentation by the teams,regularity and outcome       

2.44 Rubrics:
            Criteria followed will be originality, creativity, critical thinking,innovation,durability,utility to society.

2.45 Gradings:
Project grading will be based on all the assessments done during the course of the work
