Lesson 3- Plan Phase

3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:
     
Note: Products are shown in( )’s. Milestones are in bold font.
·         Class room discussion:  on the scope and objectives of the project.
·         Select the student group: (five group of 8students each)
·         Finding out the basic facts/concept : online and library (Definition of basic concepts)
·         Survey: E wastage in each house hold (Survey report)
·          Activity: E wastage management techniques (Report on e-waste management)
·         Activity : Analysis of harmful effects of e-wastage(Analysis Report)
·         Seminar: Need of Waste management (Seminar report)
·         Presentation: The techniques of E- wastage Management(Power point presentation)

3.2 Role definitions:

3.3 Task schedule:     
v Project start date :   10th November 2016
v Project end date   :    30th November 2016
v Survey will starts from 14th November to 23rd November 2016
v Presentation by the first, second and third group will be completed before 23rd Nov 2016.

3.4Special Activities Plan:     
·         Survey from the house hold during the third week of November
·         Video presentation by the third group on 28th November

           
3.5Resources Plan:
Computer lab and the library

3.6 Direct Instruction:
·         Meaning and types of e-wastage
·         Methods of  e-wastage management
·         Conduct the survey on e-wastage

3.7 Reviews and checkpoints:             
At the end of every week there will be a 15 minutes class conference to discuss progress, successes and challenges.
A checkpoint meeting for each team will be held for 10 minutes twice per week.

3.8 Assessment plan:
Assessment will include: The analysis of survey result, framing the suggestions, presentation skill, coordinating skill, finding the innovating facts and ideas etc.
·         Formative assessment will include the presentation of the project, conduct of survey and maintaining regularity, creativity and innovation etc.
·         Summative assessment will performed on the analysis of the result and giving suggestion and conclusion, overall presentation and the portfolio of work.
·         Rubrics prepared: Seminar presentation rubrics, Power point presentation rubrics, video presentation rubrics, Survey questions and results rubric, Consolidation work rubrics.





Women In Mainstream - Lesson 1

WOMEN IN MAINSTREAM
(1.1)The Define Phase
(1.11)Introduction: 
This project is intended to allow class VIII students to explore the following topics:
1.The role of  women in present day society
2.Status of women in our society
3.  Educated unemployment among women
4.
The students will work in small groups building knowledge in these curriculum areas, the project gives students the opportunity to develop specific 21st Century skills








(1.12)Project Scope:
            
Students from class VIII.

 Subjects involved: Social studies and statistics.


Student research will be monitored and managed to avoid students going off track and out of scope.

Class VIII Social science topics and standards related to this project;

·         Girls begin going to school
·         Changing lives of widows
·         Women write about women

E - Wastage - Lesson 2

Lesson 2
2.1 Essential Question:
          
·         Is Electronic Wastage is a leading issue in the current economic and environmental scenario?
·         Is the profit oriented production (which is not backed by the demand) a threat to Sustainability?
·         Is MNC/big cooperates are creating /            demand for their product through advertisement, which can cause for increasing E-wastage?


2.2 Grouping Strategy:
            
5 Team of 8 students of mixed ability and skill will be formed.
This is to promote teamwork and peer group interaction so that according to diverse ability children can do their best in respective task /responsibility given to them.
Each team will assign different task/responsibility like conduct survey, finding facts,analyses of the survey, presentation of the project and compilation work.

2.3 Learning Environment:
            
·      A group working area in the classroom will be set aside with tables and chairs to allow more effective interaction among team members.
·      Computer labs will be used for the majority of the online work.
·      Data collected through survey(sample Survey) will  be recorded in computers/blogs.


2.4Assessment Approach:
            Describe the approach for:
            2.41 Authentic Assessment:
Authentic tasks such as
1.      Dumping of electronic waste properly/systematically.
2.      Preparing the chart showing the e-wastage in each students house during the last three years.
3.      Presentation of seminar on the importance of conserving minerals and controlling avoidable demands in the students life.          
           
2.42 Formative Assessment:
           
Regular feedback will be provided as the students work on conducting survey, collecting the information/facts from internet and library, presentation of seminars and power points ect.  

2.43 Summative Assessment:
            Assessment will be conducted on
·         Team  portfolios in blogs
·         Seminar presentation
·         Analyses and concluding the survey results
·         Deriving suggestions/measures to overcome the problem.

2.44 Rubrics:
Rubrics will be used to assess:

·         Surveys
·         Seminar/power point presentation by the group
·         Chart of e-wastage pattern among the households.
·         Final presentation

2.45 Gradings:
Project grades will be based on a combination of scores from assessments made during the project. A rubric will be used to compile grades.

Ø  To understand the concept of E- Wastage
Ø  To analyse the harmful effect of e-wastage on health and environment
Ø  To find out the number of electronic objects (can be used) are held as unused/waste because of the arrival of new models/invention.
Ø  To learn the influence of advertisement and MNC in creating new demand for the product and likewise increasing production which is a threat to sustainable development.

Survey  will be monitored and presentation of survey will done by the children.  Group will be monitored through the group leaders.

3.       Negative impact of advertisement in students.

At the end of every week there will be a 20 minutes class conference to discuss progress, successes and challenges.
A checkpoint meeting for each team will be held for 10 minutes twice per week.

3.8 Assessment plan:
·         Opportunities for authentic assessment will include: the surveys and results, group effort.
·         Formative assessment will primarily focus on the artifacts created by the students during the project. Special attention will be paid to survey prototypes, learning journals and presentation outlines.
·         Summative assessments will be performed on the survey results, presentations on the importance of sports and the portfolios of work.
·         Rubrics prepared: Survey questions.
