Data Handling - Lesson 2

Lesson 2
2.1 Essential Question:
In our school, students are divided in to four groups namely ARJUNA, BHIMA, DRONA and EKALAVYA.
1)       How many of you are in DRONA house?
2)      From class VI , how many are in EKALAVYA house?

2.2 Grouping Strategy:
1)      Students are divided in groups.
2)      From each group, one member is collecting data from the three class teachers and giving in the class for all the students to copy.(Developing team work)
3)      Second member in the each group is preparing Frequency Distribution Table and all the members in the  group are checking this.(Developing peer learning and peer instructing)
4)      Another member is drawing the Bar Graph in the graph paper using the correct scale and all the students in the  group are checking this. (Developing peer learning and peer instructing)
5)      One member is asked to make a power point presentation regarding this.(Improving computer knowledge)
6)      Teachers explanation with the power point prepared by the students as well as prepared by the teacher.

2.3 Learning Environment:
1)      Meeting other class teachers and interacting to get the required information.
2)      Class room situation to discuss about the data and preparation of the required things.
3)      Computer labs for the preparation of power points.
4)      E-class room or the computer at the class room for the explanation.

2.4Assessment Approach:
                2.41 Authentic Assessment:
            1)  Data collection  for staring the project
2)Checking  frequencies in the Frequency distribution table.
              3) Checking the scale taken by the students.
              4) Checking the bar graph drawn by the students.

2.42 Formative Assessment:

Regular feedback is provided to the students. Corrections are made as and when needed.

2.43 Summative Assessment:
            Correction is done on
1)      Port folios for Collection and presentation of data, preparation of Frequency Distribution, selection of scale and Drawing graph sheet.
2)      Power point presentations.

2.44 Rubrics:
            Data collection
              Preparation of frequency distribution table
Bar graph in the graph paper
             Power point presentation
            Overall presentation.

2.45 Gradings:
Grading will be based on the presentation of data, correctness in making the frequency distribution table, ability in selecting the scale, skill in drawing the bar graph and its neatness, power point presentation and timely submission.

Fire and Safety - Lesson 7

Project Plan – Lesson 7

The Manage Phase

(7.1) Process Management:
Ø  Planning
Ø  Project leadership
Ø  Progress monitoring
Ø  Process management
Ø  Conflict management
 (7.2) Student Preparation:
Ãœ  The students will be told about the idea for the project 2 weeks before it starts. New ICT tools to be used during the project (i.e. using a spreadsheet for survey results, power point for presentation, etc.) will be practiced before the project launch.
 (7.3)  Facilitation:
v  Use of the library and computer equipment will be scheduled and booked in advance.

v  Resource person for interview will be scheduled and informed in advance.

v  Display models for exhibition will be prepared and kept equipped in advance.
 (7.4) Progress Monitoring:
§  Whole class conference once per week.
§  Team meetings once in two days.
§  Group Progress :

'  Team checkpoint meetings as well informally daily checking with teams and individuals on their work.

§  Individual Progress:

(7.5) Re-planning:
Since student autonomy is low there is low risk of the project going off track. 10% additional time allowance has been included for overrun but the end date cannot be exceeded. There is an option for homework to be used to catch up if necessary.
 (7.6) Conflict Management:
Teamwork rules will be included in project launch presentation. Students are asked to initially try to work out conflicts on their own. In the case of a deadlock, issues are to be raised with the teacher. Lack of participation will be dealt with by culprits being removed from the project work and set to work on alternative individual tasks for the duration of the project.
