Electricity in our life - Lesson 3

Lesson 3- Plan Phase

3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:
           
CLASS ROOM INSTRUCTION
INTRODUCTION to the students regarding the project on ELECTRICITY stating its importance in our daily life



GROUP DIVISION The entire class is divided into 5 groups with 9 members each with an efficient leader to manage the overall.
RESEARCH: Online & library
SURVEY: Testing the basic knowledge about ELECTRICITY among the public(SURVEY REPORT)
QUESTIONNAIRE: A set of questions are prepared by the students during the survey conducted in the society.

PAPER PRESENTATION: Any member  from  the team should be able to present the topic.
ACTIVITIES PLANNED:
1. Introduce the basic electrical components & their function .
2. Design a simple circuit using LED, cell & switch and highlight the role of switch in the circuit.


3. Heating Effect of Electric Current & its applications (Iron Box, Oven ,Heater).
4. Making of an Electromagnet.
5.Familiarise the various types of fuses & their role in electrical appliances
6. Demonstrate the relationship between electricity & magnetism.
7. Awareness program
POWER POINT PRESENTATION(student briefing)
CELEBRATION: Science Exhibition to be conducted including the exhibits prepared by students during the course of the project


3.2 Role definitions:
           
PROJECT COORDINATOR: Principal
PROJECT LEADER: Teacher along the needful suggestions from the Principal.
TEAM LEADER: (Coordinating the group members) 
MEMBERS OF THE GROUP: (active participants)
MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY: (Indirect participants)
SURVEYOR: (Collects survey reports)

3.3 Task schedule:
                            Include expected dates to start specific tasks
PROJECT START DATE: November 1st week
PROJECT END DATE:  November last week
ACTIVITY: 2nd week of November

3.4Special Activities Plan:
               
Paper Presentation
Testing the knowledge about electricity in the society
Survey
A talk during the assembly for all students about the need to conserve Electricity
Plan an awareness program regarding the wastage of electricity
Questionnaire
Power point Presentation
Talk by a person from Electricity Board to students about the need to conserve Electricity
Science Exhibition.

Computer lab,Library,Internet facility,Articles from Newspapers,Activity room,Science lab,Class room

3.6 Direct Instruction:

Provide the basic concepts of Electricity
Talk about the importance of Electricity

Conducting a survey
Providing the tips to save Electricity
Create awareness about the first aid  for Electric shock.


3.7 Reviews and checkpoints:
               
Weekly meetings are required to keep the project in a right track.
Suggestions and necessary corrections are to be made accordingly.
Active participation of the students.
Feedback from the students regarding the project
Checking the survey Questionnaire
Suggestions from the principal and teachers.


3.8 Assessment plan:
           
Assessment can be done both in formative way and summative way.
Grading sheet based on their active participation
Checking the originality of the project and survey reports
Testing the overall knowledge gained by the students at the end of the project
